Workshop 1 - Turn your Lawn into a Garden
DUE TO COVID LOCKDOWN CONCERNS IN VICTORIA, BOOKINGS HAVE BEEN DISABLED UNTIL WE HAVE AN UPDATE ABOUT THE SITUATION.
Workshop 1 – Small Scale Growing: Turning your Lawn into a Garden (with Jordan & Emma from Huntly Organics).
includes a plant based morning tea and lunch, prepared from local produce.
Sun 26th June – 9.30am – 4.30pm
Our foundational workshop on small scale growing. This workshop gives you all the tools you need from seed to harvest to turn your garden into a highly productive space. Enough to feed your family or even your community entirely from your backyard or land. It requires low or no start up capital to get started with what we teach in this workshop!
Ideal for those growing anywhere from a tiny suburban yard up to a 2 acre lifestyle block.
If you’re looking to scale your garden to a small scale farm, then it’s recommended you attend both Workshop 1, and then Workshop 2 afterwards, which will explore small scale systems, equipment & sales, and help you further develop your skills as a grower.
1 . Getting rid of the grass, and preparing soil for planting.
2. Designing your garden ergonomically (you’ll be harvesting from it often!)
3. Seeding in the nursery and devising a planting plan (you’ll get to take both home)
4. Transplanting Seedlings
5. Irrigation overview
6. Understanding your soil and organic practices
7. Harvesting and storing your produce
8. What to do with all that food
The class is run by market gardeners, Jordan & Emma from Huntly Organics.
Please bring a water bottle. Potable water is available for refills.
A morning tea and lunch on the farm will be provided and gluten free are options available on request.
